Initially learning to play piano, Jason fell for the bass at an early age upon hearing the melodic bass lines of classic rock bands such as Queen and Rush. He then emptied his bank account and spent the proceeds on a bass guitar and amp and proceeded to annoy his father by playing too loudly whilst learning to emulate his heroes.
In later life, his love of jazz has lead him to taking classes and private lessons. Jason’s influences are from both established names like Paul Chambers, Ron Carter, Ray Brown, Scott Lefaro and more modern bassists such as Jaco Pastorius, David Erskine and Jimmy Haslip.
He plays in several groups, playing everything from “old school” standards to present day fusion and contemporary jazz.
